The work features four talking characters that you can ask questions and engage in conversation with. The characters are created using artificial intelligence and are based on interviews and data from people living with diabetes. When the work is not being interacted with, the characters talk to each other.
Each character represents a typical way of coping with the disease:
– The Doer takes responsibility and focuses on solutions
– The Seeker searches for knowledge to gain control
– The Denier tries to ignore the illness
– The Apathetic leaves responsibility to others
Reflected Realities – Stories about Diabetes is built on artificial intelligence and large language models, which have transformed emotional patterns into vivid and human-like dialogues. The aim is to foster openness, understanding, and empathy around the experience of living with diabetes.
The project was developed in close collaboration with the Danish Diabetes Association and realized with support from the Novo Nordisk Foundation.
